The heat waves are just around the corner. Hot weather makes many people bad tempered. To keep yourself cool in summers will protect you from prevalent health conditions in summer such as tiredness, headaches, cramps, dizziness, heat stroke, exhaustion and irritability. Here the ways that can help you to keep your body cool even in the scorching heat and make you able to perform your responsibilities and health balance.
Hydrate your body
The most common problem in the summers is the dehydration, the symptom of which is quite severe. It is advisable to take 6-8 glasses of water daily and more before going outside in the sun; to avoid fluid loss. Also use fresh fruit juices, mint and lemon water. Sugary drinks should strictly avoid. Also avoid ice cold drinks.
Summer friendly get ups
Dark colors absorb and retain heat. Choose light color fabrics as whites, pastels and creams. Opt for loose fittings, comfortable and light weight fabrics to wear in summer months. Cotton is good fabric in summers as it absorbs sweat and let your body breathe. Choose airy, light sandals instead of heavy, closed shoes.
Consume smaller meals frequently during the day to avoid heaviness. This eases your digestive system and boosts your metabolism. Spicy foods induce sweating and skin damping and evaporation start to keep cooling sensation. Fruits, cilantro, mint, cucumbers, sweet potatoes, milk, olive oil, coconut oil, beans and green leafy vegetables are favored to cool you down.
Keep your environment cool
Stay at home and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities. Switch off the appliances when not in use. Allow circulation of air in home to keep cool. Use ceiling fans, air conditions or portable fans to keep your home and work place cool. Use bamboo blinds or shades around the windows.
Try physical activities; swimming, sports, walking and exercising in the cooler hours of the day. Avoid physical works in afternoons and also in air-condition gyms which do more bad than good.
Cool your mind
Take showers to turn down the temperature of body. Run some cool to your wrist to chill your pulse. Take out the time for meditation to keep your mind cool in strenuous days. Listen to soft music and walk in nature to cool down – emotionally, mentally and physically.
