DS has teased a new concept car, pitched by the premium French brand as a vision of 2035.
Called the DS X E-Tense, the short video edit released by DS is all we get to see for now. In the shadowy shots, the concept appears to be a full-size coupe, while the front and rear lights boast the firm’s trademark geometric patterns.
The shot of the swollen wheel arch and large alloy reveals a ‘DS Performance’ badge. The E-Tense name means that it will almost certainly be a fully electric vehicle with a focus on performance. However, with DS touting it as a stargazing project, it’s understood that this concept will preview the brand’s future technology and design language, rather than a production vehicle we’ll see soon.
More details and information on the concept are expected to follow at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show at the end of April. DS has cited China as one of its most important new car markets given the region’s appetite for electric vehicles so the reveal of the concept car at one of the country’s premier car shows makes sense.
The last time DS launched a concept vehicle was in 2015 with the E-Tense electric coupe. Since then the DS 7 Crossback SUV has been launched, but other than that product news from DS has been a little thin on the ground.
