Wearing A Tie Could Affect Your Brain Health
Although wearing a tie is the great impression of superiority, confidence, business person, or tycoon. But according to a study the tightening a tie can restrict your blood flow to the brain. Tie-wearers can build-up unhealthy pressure by pushing blood in the skull by compressing the veins in the neck. University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein in Germany has reported the issue for the tie-wearers. According to them it may not however risk most people health but it can affect the health who is already suffering from blood pressure issues such as elderly or smokers.
In the previous studies tight ties report the association of glaucoma risk or increase pressure in the eyes. The current study was also design linking the previous findings to investigate the health effects in ties-wearers. The study was perform in the 15 male volunteers who wear tie at a slight discomfort. And 15 male volunteer who do not wear ties at all. The MRI scans shows the blood level drop to average 7.5 percent in the tie-wearers and no blood drop in the non-wearers. Researchers say it is due to the extra pressure in the blood vessels due to the tie. The blood flow in the rest of the body is unaffected in both groups.
However the blood flow to the brain is vital to provide the oxygen to the brain cells, nutrients and glucose. The restriction in the blood supply can cause temporary or permanent damage in the brain. Steve Kassem the Neurologist however said that 7.5 percent drop did not cause any noticeable change. While the people suffering from blood flow problems or high blood pressure might feel headaches, nausea or dizziness.
